ne Kanawha Valley town is gearing up for Christmas, and a hospital in the UKV is seeking community feedback for a health survey. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Montgomery, Marmet and South Charleston.
COMMUNITY SURVEY: Montgomery General Hospital is asking residents to take part in its Community Health Survey, a 15-question assessment conducted every three years to help identify local health priorities. Officials say the results will guide the hospital and the Community Health Committee in addressing key issues through community action. The survey is available at mghwv.com. In addition to the survey, the hospital will also hold a public meeting to discuss community health. The meeting will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 4. It will take place on the second floor of the hospital’s main campus, located at 401 Sixth Ave. in Montgomery.
BUSINESS MEETING: The Upper Kanawha Valley Economic Development Corporation (UKVEDC) will hold a community business meeting in the town of Marmet on Monday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. The event will be held at Marmet Town Hall, 9403 MacCorkle Ave. SE. All local business owners are invited to the event, and no RSVP is required. The event, sponsored by town of Montgomery, will allow business owners to network and collaborate to address local needs. Those businesses interested in joining the UKVEDC can receive free advertising on the organization’s website and social media, according to a provided flyer. “Whether you're a small shop or a growing enterprise, your voice matters,” officials wrote. “Let’s build a stronger business community—together.” For more information, contact Terry Barley at 304-590-4276.
CHRISTMAS PARADE: You better watch out – Santa Claus is coming to South Charleston, and he wants you to be a part of the city’s annual holiday parade. The South Charleston Christmas Parade is set for noon on Saturday, Dec. 6, with lineup at 11 a.m. and the parade starting at noon. This year’s theme, “Welcome Home North Pole,” celebrates Santa’s magical hometown with snowy streets, reindeer, elves, candy canes and more. Organizers are currently look for businesses, religious institutions, local organizations and other interested individuals who want to participate in the parade. Registration is available on the South Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau website. The Parade Committee reserves the right to reject applications and political campaigns and/or controversial/political issues may not be represented in the parade.
