ne local school’s National Honor Society will host a movie night to raise funds for area food banks, and an upper Kanawha Valley community will host a community flea market over three Saturdays in September. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Charleston, East Bank and Loudendale.
MOVIE FUNDRAISER: Capital High School’s National Honor Society will hold a showing of “High School Musical” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The movie night takes place at the school’s soccer field, located on the school’s campus at 1500 Greenbrier Street in Charleston. Doors open at 7 p.m. The entrance cost is $3 per person. A variety of concessions, including popcorn, candy and drinks, will be available. Proceeds from the event will benefit local food banks. More information is available on Facebook.
COMMUNITY FLEA MARKET: A community flea market will be held in the town of East Bank over three Saturdays in September. The events are hosted by the East Bank United Methodist Church and will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 6, September 13 and September 20. A free spot and table will be provided to anyone interested in selling items at the flea market. Vendors may set up beginning at 9 a.m. on each day of the event. Markets will take place at the East Bank Christian Fellowship Center, 148 Elm St. in East Bank. Anyone interested in selling should call 304-400-3119 or 304-951-3972 to reserve a spot. LOUDENDALE REUNION: The community of Loudendale will host its annual reunion on Saturday, Sept. 27. The reunion will take place at Kanawha State Forest shelters five, six and seven. The reunion is open to all past and present residents of the Kanawha County community. “Bring your favorite food and a comfy chair and join us for a great day,” organizers encouraged in a community newsletter. The reunion will also include a raffle, with proceeds used to purchase children’s toys for the community’s Christmas party. Anyone interested in donating an item for the raffle is encouraged to contact Loudendale resident Kim Blount. Items may also be brought to the reunion.
