A
local business is relocating, and a free driver safety event aims to keep older neighbors safe and comfortable on the roads. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Nitro, Charleston and Glasgow.
BUSINESS RELOCATION: A local business is relocating. Faith & Flourish Boutique (formerly Country Roads Creations) will open for the final time at its current shop in Cross Lanes today (Tuesday, March 31, 2026). Beginning Wednesday, owners will begin transitioning to the shop’s new location at 703 First Avenue South in Nitro. The business will hold a soft launch at the new space from April 14-16. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the rebranded business’s official launch at 10 a.m. on April 17. The public is invited. Faith & Flourish Boutique offers a variety of products, ranging from clothing to candles, to boutique items and a wreath-making station. Fresh ground coffee, dirty sodas, baked goods and more will also be available at the new location. More information on Faith & Flourish Boutique’s offerings is available on Facebook.
CARFIT EVENT: Car safety is an important consideration at all ages, but different age groups have different protective needs. Students and staff with the University of Charleston’s Occupational Therapy program are offering a free, interactive, and educational programevent called CarFit designed to help older drivers stay safe and comfortable on the road. Trained volunteers will provide quick, personalized checks of a senior’s car to make sure it supports visibility, comfort, and safer driving. CarFit will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, in the parking lot of the University of Charleston Innovation Center, 2300 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. in Charleston. The event is free, but registration is requested. To register, contact Associate Professor Nicole LaRue at nicolelarue@ucwv.edu or 304-639-8038.
KARAOKE & DINNER: Residents of the upper Kanawha Valley community of Glasgow are invited to karaoke and dinner hosted by the town’s police department. The community event runs from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at Glasgow Town Hall, 129 Fourth Avenue. Sliders and drinks will be provided. Donations from community members will be accepted.
