olunteers are needed for an Easter-themed event for individuals with exceptional abilities, and an annual fundraiser takes lucky locals to the races. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Charleston, South Charleston and Malden.

BUNNY BASH: Exceptional Possibilities WV, a local nonprofit that works with individuals with exceptionalities and their families, will host a Bunny Bash on Saturday, March 14, bringing spring crafts, cookie decorating, adaptive egg decorating, a petting zoo and pictures with the Easter Bunny to the Children’s Department at Kanawha County Public Library’s main branch on Capitol Street. A sensory-sensitive hour will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. for individuals who benefit from a calmer experience. A second hour open to the public will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Organizers said volunteers will be needed to assist in running stations such as crafts, cookie decorating, and games. Volunteers may also assist with set up and break down. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to complete an online form. Volunteers will be needed from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

LUCKY NIGHT: It’s about to be your lucky night. The South Charleston Chamber of Commerce will host its annual A Lucky Night at the Races on Saturday, March 14, at the Holiday Inn and Suites, 400 Second Avenue in South Charleston. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., while races – pre-recorded, displayed on a large screen and called in-person by a veteran caller – begin promptly at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and include appetizers, two drink tickets (beer/wine), and the naming of one horse. A cash bar will be available for other beverages. Proceeds benefit the South Charleston Chamber of Commerce. More information and a link to registration is available online.

SALT FEST: Organizers of the Malden Salt Fest are looking for food vendors and food trucks for their 8th annual event, set for Saturday, May 9. The yearly festival, located on the site of a historic Kanawha Valley salt farm, features live music, food, artisan vendors, a kid's zone, and tours of the salt facilities. Entry to the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., is free. J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works, which hosts the festival, is located at 4797 Midland Drive  in Malden. Anyone interested in becoming a food vendor at this year’s event are asked to email events@jqdsalt.com or call 304-925-7918.
