ne local community is celebrating the 45-year career of a municipal employee, and preparations are underway for Camp Virgil Tate’s 5th Annual Egg-Stravaganza. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Montgomery, Sissonville and Clendenin.
Employee Retirement: An upper Kanawha Valley community recently celebrated one municipal employee’s decades-long career. Timmy Albaugh served the City of Montgomery for 45 years. He began his career with the city at age 16 and was hired as a full-time employee in 1980. Albaugh retired in late January 2026. “I’m really going to miss this guy,” Montgomery Mayor Greg Ingram wrote in an announcement post. “I have spent over 20 years working with Timmy. Truly among the elite.”
Egg-Stravaganza: Easter is quickly approaching, and many local communities are already planning egg hunts and other seasonal activities. The 5th Annual Egg-Stravaganza and Spring Craft Fair has been scheduled for Saturday, March 28. The event, held at Camp Virgil Tate, features local vendors and a non-competitive, allergy-friendly egg hunt with prizes instead of candy. The craft fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the egg hunt takes place from noon to 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 per egg hunter and can be purchased at the event. More information is available online.
Façade Grants: Commercial business owners in the Elk River areas of Kanawha and Clay counties may be eligible for grants to enhance their storefronts. The Elk River Trail Foundation recently launched the Façade Grant Program, which provides up to $20,000 in construction services and funding for facade improvements. Eligible projects include painting, signs and murals; masonry or exterior repairs; window or door replacement; awnings; accessibility improvements; and lighting and architectural details. Applications will be accepted through April 15, 2026. More information and an application are available on the Elk River Trail Foundation website.
