eaders in one Kanawha Valley municipality have organized an upcoming town hall, and a local hospital is celebrating the achievements of two of its employees. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Marmet, Montgomery and St. Albans.
Town Hall: Leaders in the town of Marmet have organized a town hall to discuss future development projects in the community. The town hall will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their ideas for the community’s future. For more information on the meeting, call 304-644-9197.
Nurse Achievements: Montgomery General Hospital is celebrating the accomplishments of two of its nurses. Abagail Warden, an employee on the hospital’s Acute Care and Swing Bed Unit, and Brittany Light, an Extended Care Unit staff member, both recently passed their Registered Nurse (RN) boards. Hospital officials said such an achievement requires “countless hours of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to patient care.”
KCSO Retirement: A deputy with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office who served in various Kanawha Valley police departments for the past 30 years has retired. Sgt. Jeffrey Wade Eary first began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Dunbar Police and Fire Dispatch. Eary held positions with the Belle Police Department, Metro 911, the Dunbar Police Department and the South Charleston Police Department before joining the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office in 2007. There, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a sergeant. Eary finished his role with the agency as an Area Commander. For his sendoff on Wednesday, deputies surprised Eary with a Cameo video created by WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter, who some say looks a bit like Eary himself.
