A
popular three-course dining event returns to the capital city, and one local middle school is offering neighbors a free feast of soup and sandwiches. Here’s the 411 from communities around the region, including Charleston, Malden and Cedar Grove.
Restaurant Week: Charleston Restaurant Week returns from January 26-31. More than 21 vendors are joining this year’s event, including 10 first-time participants. Diners can enjoy three courses for one set price, ranging from $30 to $62 per person. Reservations are currently open (and normally fill quickly!). A full list of participating restaurants and their respective menus can be found on Charleston WV Restaurant Week Facebook page.
Soup & Sandwich Meal: Community members are invited to a meal of soup and sandwiches at DuPont Middle School on Saturday, Jan. 17. The event is hosted by the school’s student council and Beta Club. It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school’s campus at 1 Panther Drive in Malden. Meals are free for all community members while supplies last.
Open Position: The town of Cedar Grove is currently seeking candidates for Town Recorder. The person hired for this position would be responsible for keeping official records (council minutes, financial accounts, etc.), managing fines/fees, and handling public records requests, among other duties. Those interested in the position are asked to call Cedar Grove Mayor Melissa Young at 304-741-4792.
