he Truist West Virginia Foundation has made a $20,000 donation to the West Virginia State University (WVSU) Foundation to promote a new initiative designed to integrate the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) across the university’s academic programs.
The purpose of the new project is to prepare students with AI literacy, critical thinking, and future-ready skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
“Thank you to the Truist West Virginia Foundation for this important investment in the responsible and ethical uses of artificial intelligence,” said WVSU President Ericke S. Cage. “This will better position WVSU students to enter and succeed in an AI-driven workforce, supporting not only their individual career paths but also contributing to regional economic growth and strengthening the talent pipeline for employers across West Virginia and beyond.”
Through this initiative, faculty will redesign courses across multiple disciplines to incorporate AI concepts, tools and applications tailored to their fields. Course updates will focus on integrating real-world AI practices to ensure that instruction remains relevant, practical and aligned with evolving industry needs.
WVSU students will achieve enhanced AI literacy across a broad range of disciplines by engaging with newly integrated AI concepts, tools, and ethical frameworks embedded directly into their coursework.
