Man dies after mobility scooter struck by vehicle in Cross Lanes

eputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic crash around 5:11 a.m. Monday at the Tudor's along Goff Mountain Road in Cross Lanes, following reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, deputies and crash investigators determined that 86-year-old Eugene Taylor of Cross Lanes was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Goff Mountain Road. Taylor was operating a mobility scooter and attempting to cross from Cadle Drive when he was struck.

Taylor sustained critical injuries and was transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The incident is being investigated by the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office Reconstruction Team. No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle at the time of this writing.
