Local hospital appoints new Medical Director of Women’s Services

Dr. Robert DePond chosen to lead women's healthcare services at WVU Thomas Hospitals.

VU Thomas Hospitals has a new Medical Director of Women’s Services. Dr. Robert DePond, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., has been appointed to the position.

According to his bio on WVU Thomas Hospitals's website, DePond earned both his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees from West Virginia University in Morgantown. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at CAMC and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Most recently, DePond served at West Virginia University Physicians of Charleston. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at WVU Charleston Division since 2007. 

Dr. DePond specializes in preventive women’s healthcare, minimally-invasive surgical procedures, reproductive health, and menopause. 

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. DePond to our team,” Greg Rosencrance, M.D., President and CEO of WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, said in a statement. “His expertise and commitment to women’s health will further enhance the quality care our patients receive.” 

Dr. DePond will continue to see patients at his clinic based at Thomas Hospitals Gynecology, located at 4607 MacCorkle Ave. SW, Suite 301, in South Charleston. Those interested in making an appointment may call 304-767-7919.
