e’re just days away from Memorial Day weekend – the unofficial start to summer – but some Kanawha Valley residents are already anticipating the season.

The community of Campbells Creek has begun preparations for its annual Summerfest, which will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Ken Ellis Memorial Park, located about three miles up Campbells Creek across from Northeast Ballfield, hosts the annual community celebration, which is free and open to the public.

This year’s event will feature live music, craft and direct seller vendors, carnival games, food vendors, animal exhibits, a farmers market, and more.

Summerfest will be held on Saturday, June 7 in the Campbells Creek neighborhood of Charleston. Ken Ellis Memorial Park Summerfest

Nashville recording artists Tina Steven and Rob Ciarapica will provide entertainment. Kris Allen, another Nashville performer, will provide DJ services.

Even the county’s animal shelter is expected to join in the fun.

“We will be collecting items to help out the Kanawha County Animal Shelter,” said Jessica Hudson, one of Summerfest’s organizers. "They will also be on site doing pet adoptions."
