Deputies seek info, footage from St. Albans shots fired incident

The late-night shooting occurred after school hours near Lakewood Elementary in St. Albans.

O

fficials with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office are seeking information and videos related to a January 11 shots-fired incident that happened near Lakewood Elementary in St. Albans.

According to deputies, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., well after students and staff had left the school.

Officials say a black foreign-made sports car, possibly a Honda, and a black motorcycle with red lighting around the engine were seen racing down Lakewood Drive toward Shadyside Road.

The motorcycle is believed to be a Harley-Davidson, and the sports car had a loud exhaust, officers said.

Deputies said that when the vehicles reached the intersection, several gunshots were heard before both fled the area via Shadyside Road.

"This happened directly beside one of our elementary schools," officials said in a statement. "Even though school was not in session, gunfire near a school is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Kanawha County."

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department. Video footage can be submitted via the department's evidence submission portal at this link.
