he town of Clendenin is getting into the holiday spirit, with a full-fledged Christmas celebration planned for Dec. 2.
The northern Kanawha County community will host its annual "Christmas on Main" event on Saturday. The festivities begin with a parade at 6 p.m.
"Join us on Main Street for a night of celebration and giving," officials with Clendenin said in a post on their website.
The event will feature several family-friendly activities. Celebrations are open to everyone, officials said, and the parade welcomes new participants.
"Extra points if you’re in a Jeep, SxS or something really cool," information on the event reads.
This year's parade lineup begins at 5 p.m. at Poca Valley Bank on U.S. Route 119 in Clendenin. Each parade participant is asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the community's toy drive.
At 6 p.m., the lighted parade will make its way down Main Street.
After the parade, local officials and other guests will light the town's official Christmas tree. That will be followed by Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and games for children and adults alike.
"[There will be] plenty of activities for children, so bring the entire family and have a relaxing and enjoyable evening on Main Street," Clendenin officials said.
